VDS – PD Detector Pro

Partial discharges (PD) emit small, high-frequency signals that propagate along metallic surfaces and travel through VDS/VPIS ports commonly installed in both air and gas insulated switchgear. IPEC’s VDS sensor, used in conjunction with a PD Detector Pro, detects, characterises, and measures the presence and severity of PD activity within Air or Gas insulated switchgear. Because the VDS ports are directly coupled to the high voltage (HV), PD can be reliably detected even in scenarios where other sensors may be less effective. This is particularly advantageous in medium voltage gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) applications.
